On May 11, 2024, PICACS hosted a lecture on "Iqbal in Modern Society." Watch the video recording below.
Speaker: Professor Brig (Retired) Waheed Uz Zaman Tariq
Hailing from Lahore, Pakistan, Professor Tariq is a scholar, author, poet, and researcher in Iqbaliyat, as well as Urdu and Persian literature and poetry.

Who was Muhammad Iqbal?

Muhammad Iqbal, commonly known as Allama Iqbal, was a distinguished philosopher, poet, and politician born on November 9, 1877, in Sialkot, British India (now Pakistan). He played a pivotal role in advocating for the rights and interests of Indian Muslims during the British colonial period, and he was instrumental in inspiring the Pakistan Movement, which led to the creation of Pakistan in 1947.

Iqbal's Urdu and Persian poetry delves into the themes of self-discovery, spirituality, and the revitalization of Islamic thought. Renowned for his poetic brilliance and profound philosophical insights, Iqbal's work transcends time and remains relevant in modern society. Iqbal's legacy continues to inspire individuals worldwide, offering timeless wisdom and guidance for navigating the complexities of life and fostering a more harmonious and inclusive society.
